tinariwen is my current laptop and the machine I use the most right now. It primarily runs the latest Kubuntu but is dual-boot w/Win7 Professional. It lags especially GPU-wise. The root shell is zsh, the default wm KDE's default. Did I mention that the battery life is amazing?
